Probably Stolen Radioactive Waste: How to Dispose of It
Nuclear waste comes from a customer paying 100 credits per barrel, up to five. It will not sell or bin. Carry it to the dumping grounds at night, one at a time.
Radioactive waste will not sell, will not go in the bin, and insurance will not touch it. The one method that works is carrying the barrel to the dumping grounds at night and dropping it.
Where does it come from? A customer walks in and says they have hazardous waste to get rid of and proper disposal is too expensive. Then they pay you 100 credits per barrel, up to five in recorded runs.
So it is clearly priced dirty work. Say yes and 500 credits land in your account. The price is that you have to clean up after yourself.
Two ways to dispose of it
One: the dumping grounds (recommended). Choose a night scavenging trip and drop the barrel from your backpack onto the ground.
Do it one barrel at a time. If you repeat the trip, Giorgio only returns the first barrel, and never again after that.
Two: container plus trash can. Put the barrel inside a supply crate or similar container, then bin the whole crate. The cleaning service takes it away with everything else.
This is a player workaround. The person who found it says it may be a bug that happens to work right now. Treat it as a backup, not the plan.
What does not work
A Steam discussion thread lists everything people tried: cancelling insurance, leaving it outside, putting it straight in the trash can, and selling it to an NPC who buys everything. None of it works.
That is why searching for how to clear nuclear waste turns up so little.
Step by step
- When the customer makes the offer, decide whether to accept. Accepting is what puts barrels in your bag. Refusing means they never arrive.
- That night, choose the dumping grounds. Bring bandages and a small bag.
- In the scavenging screen, move the barrel from your backpack to the ground.
- Repeat until the barrels are gone. Remember only the first one comes back.
The cost, and how to avoid it
Going out is not free. It delays tomorrow’s opening and costs you one customer. So schedule waste runs on a night you already planned to go out.
Do not want to deal with it? Just refuse the customer. The game does not force it, and the trigger conditions have never been published.
